The Advisory Board Company

The Advisory Board Company is a medical best practices research firm located in Washington, D.C. Their main website is a massive online database where their clients can access years' worth of their research. However, their main online brochure needed refreshing after the company went public in 2001. The challenge was in creating an online presence with just enough text to lure visitors into contacting the company for a tour of their full website.

The resulting website was probably the most elegant site I've done yet. The pages were bisected into two panes, with a few paragraphs of text on the right and, on the left, large photographs (taken by my friend David Seitzinger). The photographs were screened way back and placed behind quotes from famous writers and philosophers in order to establish the mood and to keep the download times low. The finished product was a site that looked and felt like a full-color brochure – but at a fraction of the price.

The Advisory Board Company online brochure was produced using Photoshop and hand-coded HTML and CSS.
