Gaston Lighthouse and StatusQuotes
Nancy Gaston is an inventor living outside of Washington, D.C. When she decided to put her idea for a new piece of office equipment into play, she gave me a call to help design the object and build her promotional materials. I jumped at the chance to do my first piece of industrial design.
The resulting device, the StatusQuotes system from Gaston Lighthouse (her new company) is a large board with color-coded slide-in pieces to indicate where a particular person can be found. I helped design the product, adding slots to the top for nameplates and personal effects and guiding color choices and shapes. In addition, I also created the logos for the company and the product, designed and built the print materials and websites, and went on research meetings with Nancy to observe the concept-to-market process. All in all, this was one of my more fascinating projects.
At different stages of development, this project used HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Metacreations Bryce 5.
