Dreamsbay.com 2004

The challenge

The hardest client is always yourself. I wanted to redesign my 'corporate' site, but still retain its simplicity and elegance. How, then, to keep its relaunch feeling organic?

The solution

I first decided which elements of the old design I really liked: its openness, its colors, its light brushed-metal texture, and its tiny footprint, which I kept on the homepage and in a pop-up portfolio. Installing the portfolio navigation in the upper left corner of every page both kept the work in the forefront of the visitor's attention and added a splash of color and texture. I then expanded the main content pages of the site, adding text and thumbnails where appropriate. The result was a smooth transition into a more content-heavy design.

The tools

The 2004 edition of Dreamsbay.com was built using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Adobe Photoshop.
